2020 FORESIGHT: SHARPENING A VATICAN II VISION FOR THE CHURCH AND WORLD 1. Description of the retreat: Our relationship with God is founded on revelation, the Church, and the world in which the Creator has placed us. How do we participate in the dialogue God has called us to? The purpose of this retreat is to see the vision of Vatican II in its four basic constitutions and to live its spirit of dialogue more fully today. 2. Objectives: • To become familiar with the Council documents, especially the 4 constitutions, and learn to interpret and live the spirit of the texts. • To become aware of the Spirit’s mandate to the Church and the importance of implementing the Council’s vision in the 21st century. • To understand more deeply the dynamic of God’s call and our response by reading the “signs of the times”, or better, a vision of seeing the world and divine activity within that world. • To recommit ourselves to living the spirit of the Council: dialogue, listening, trust, participation. • To raise consciousness and pastoral planning concerning the 50th Anniversary of John XXIII’s announcement of an ecumenical council (Jan. 25, 2009).
